Thank you for visiting my website. There are lots of new things to explore this month, including a much-expanded Links page, which includes some of my favorite spirituality-oriented blogs, resources, and colleagues. I've also added a much fuller description of my spiritual guidance practice. Although I am not currently taking new spiritual guidance clients, I hope that my discussion of what I see as the differences between "spiritual direction," "spiritual guidance," and "spiritual companioning" will be helpful to those seeking such engagements now or who may wish to work with me later in the summer of 2008, when I will be taking new clients. See the Spiritual Guidance page for this discussion. Last, but not least in my book, I've linked a draft of chapter three of my dissertation, 'Proclaiming Church: Socio-Spiritual Resourcing and the Ritualized Practice of Vernacular Theology in The Book of Margery Kempe.' I've just completed chapter four, and am in the process of revising the concluding chapter. Look for these later in the summer (after my August 27th defense!). You're welcome to browse this recent work in the Dissertation Chapters page.

Last month, I posted new information about my academic work, teaching experience, and other projects related to my fascination with the spiritual lives or ordinary believers today and in the late Middle Ages in England. Check out the
About Me and Dissertation Chapters pages for this material, and visit the Conference Papers and Public Talks pages for earlier work. I've also included an essay on pedagogical practice entitled, "Demystitification, Access, and Possibility in the University Classroom: A Pedagogical Appreciation." The essay explores the thinking at work in the practice of commenting on student papers by way of a narrative on my work as novice teacher with Professor David Bartholomae. You can download a pdf file of the essayand share your comments Teaching and Learning on the page.
